Sunnyvale Movie Theater

Sunnyvale Movie Theater

SURL: "http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/THE%20LAST%20DREAM6/121/111/22"

Khan Omizu is my new favorite designer after seeing the love of this build.
Esthetically it is my new favorite theater.

They have a current Now Showing Feature with the ability to select other movies for viewing.
Like with all times you go see a movie, check with the people already there before you touch anything. Changing a movie in the middle of someone else watching is just bad. Do not do.

Outside of that, I'll show you the inside of this... :)

Second Cinema

Second Cinema has been around a long while and has always done it's best to have a nice theater feel to it.

They host 4 different screens, each with their own full length feature. All of them have been full theatrical releases and have also shown some very good independent films here.

I for one am glad they are still around. This is a great place for a quiet date movie in a professional theater atmosphere.

Farewell "Sky Cinema", you will be missed.

Sky Cinema

RIP... you were a great and beautiful place. You are missed.

This was the best place to get your B&W Movie needs satisfied.
It had the very best atmosphere and feel to it ever. You could even fly in and park.
You are why I keep my love of Second Life movie theaters alive.

RIP

At first blush this does not look like that much, however it is singularly one of my absolute favorite Second Life movie theaters.

It is DVD Menu driven with a HUGE selection of movies past and present to choose from. If you do not find what you are looking for in other theaters, come here first.

You do not need to be a member of the group to view movies here, however I do recommend it. There is a watch sync'd option and an unsync'd option. If you do watch it sync'd do not change the movie while others are possibly watching a different feature as it will disrupt their movie. If you would like to watch something different than what is playing, choose to watch it unsync'd from the DVD menu after you click the DVD player.

This is a very casual theater and has spent more time in making sure there are movies to enjoy instead of burning up their time with window dressing. (ironically there is a floating window in this sky box. Dressing enough for me. )

When I came in I decided I really like the looks of the building so wanted to see what they were showing. This seems to be a single movie watch theater where there is just one movie set to the parcel for viewers to enjoy.

The movie that was playing when I went to visit them today was "The Three Amigos" live action picture. Not a Triple A title but still fun. I imagine they would change the movie when they find the desire and time. Still giving this a mention if for the atmosphere alone.

Yummy Inc Movie Theater

Yummy Inc Movie Theater
My new great find located by me on  7/7/14

I found this theater today and it seems very similar to Bigfoot Outdoor Theater in that it has a DVD menu for movie selection with a sync and unsync option. If someone is already watching a movie you do not want to change the menu to a different movie until you have unsync'd yourself from the DVD. You will find the option in the DVD menu when you click it.

There is a good selection of movies to choose from including newer releases.

You do not need to be a member of their group to operate  the player at the time I used it.

If you are watching as a group you will definitely want to use the sync'd option however, so you can all see the movie playing close to the same time.

I had no issues with getting any of the films to play with the updated Quicktime player.

Squeebee's Mystery Science Theater

Squeebee's Mystery Science Theater!

Yes for anybody who knows about Mystery Science Theater 3000 Might already know what this theater is all about... and you would be right. :)

The SURL for the Mystery Science Theater is at "http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/This%20Island%20Earth/211/158/23"

They do have special events that are hosted and encourage participation along with the movie if you are so inclined.  Join their group if you want to keep informed about events or anything special they have going on.

This has been open for many years in different incarnations, but always friendly and awesome.
If you have never watched an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 or are a diehard Mistie then you can totally relish that something this fantastic and fun can be found in your favorite virtual world. :)

Tiny Tutorial on how to watch Movies on Second Life (On Firestorm)

Tiny Tutorial on how to play Movies in Second Life
Using the Firestorm Client 2014

1)  First things first. You will want to download and install the most recent Quicktime from "http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" You do not need to sign up for the newsletter with your email. Just click Download.

I also recommend getting Silverlight "http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx" and also updating your Java.  Neither of these are vital to playing movies on Second Life, however I still think it's a good idea. (Zombies hear things)

2) Go to your "Preferences" section of Second Life and under the "Sounds and Media" tab you will want to make sure that "Media" is enabled/checked.  You may or may not need to restart SL after OK. To make this work. If you find you cannot click the movie camera in the upper right as will be seen in section 3 of this tutorial... then restart and see if it's available.

3)  You should now be able to to click the movie camera in the upper right of your client to activate and play whatever movie is on the screen. This will work for basic theaters where the Movie url is already set by the land/parcel owner.

******In the Cases of a "DVD" Player and you see this below, you will want to get the note card on how their DVD system works for that specific Cinema. Some you may have to be part of the group to operate and change movies. Great places never ask in my experience.*****

Second Life Movie Theater Blog Introduction

Grindhouse Bmovie... Second Life Movie Theater Blogger

About this Blog:
For anybody who is new to my findings and reviews, which might be most of you, I have been spending my time on Second Life either watching movies, finding active movie theaters and cinemas in Second Life, and/or posting my findings ad reviews on each theater I run across and post their SURL so you can visit them yourself.

I was just posting them on Facebook and helping others in SL find quality places to watch new and old releases around Second Life and then decided to finally start a blog featuring what I have found and where I personally can recommend you go for different experiences.  I do not however EVER post any Porn Cinema or Theater recommendations. Everything I post is screened by me and is a legit movie theater. I am not interested in porn. Sorry if that's your thing.

I do know I am not the only Movie fan who goes into Second Life, however have you ever just wanted to go somewhere you could sit with your partner or friends and just watch a good movie together? Here is where I hope to help you out. For those old and new to Second Life and finding me for the first time... Welcome to Grindhouse Bmovie's Blog on Theaters and Cinemas in Second Life. :)
